this was Sam's semi-annual checkup. Dr Takayama briefed me on several recommendations and the results of testing. We're in good shape for a 12-year-old dog. The Aina Haina Clinic is a welcome place to visit and their office staff are helpful.

AHVC has great, competent, warm staff! The vets and techs actually encourage and then answer my questions and have never made me feel belittled for any concern I've ever had. But the real stars are the front desk staff - such delightful people! They always see me coming and run to the door to open it for me; always greet with a real, warm smile; are always kind and willing to help with anything from splitting payments to scanning something so I can have a digital copy to rescheduling. Having lived on the mainland for most of my life, I'm used to vet staff who scoff or sigh or frown or roll their eyes or say they'll get back to me and then never do. It truly is wonderful to get to work with AHVC!

Brooke was so kind & helpful. She offered other services which was greatly appreciated. Dr. Onaga continues to be the very best vet ever.

I cannot say enough good things about this practice. They are wonderful. Very compassionate, and very very fair prices. They do not over test, over treat, or over prescribe. You can tell that everyone who works there deeply cares about animals. I had to put my senior rescue dog down today on an emergency basis, and they took me in within 15 minutes, let me hold her during IV insertion and medication insertion, and created a special experience for me and my girl with a quiet room with a couch so I could hold her and comfort her. Shout out to Dr. Onaga who patiently checked her more than once at my request to be sure her heart had stopped after the injection. They even had a separate exit for me and my husband to bypass the waiting room in our grief. They have my loyalty and trust for all my pets and I would not hesitate to recommend them.

We have been with Aina Haina Vet Clinic since my pup was just 10 weeks old. Every visit to Aina Haina Vet Clinic is pleasant and I feel 100% supported. The doctors are confident, take their time, and are very thorough with their diagnosis. I appreciate how Dr. Sakamoto asks, "Do you have any other questions?" before ending the appointment--it's such a relief because I have a thousand questions as a new dog mom! The front desk staff are professional, courteous, and very helpful. Free coffee and tea is a plus! My only feedback for improvement is that I wish the point of sale system would allow me to review the charges before I swipe my card.

Dr. Sakamoto is very thorough, knowledgeable, and so empathetic and kind. We really love his “bedside manner” and I feel like my dogs are in the best hands. We also appreciate the techs for their kindness and professionalism. I’ve recommended several friends to Dr. Sakamoto now and they have all been very happy.

Such a joy! The staff and Dr. Sakamoto are so incredibly warm and welcoming! They treated Dongwa and Mateo with such grace and care. Dr. Sakamoto even slipped them a treat! They helped us with getting the boys ready for International Travel and put us at ease. Highly recommend!

We have come to love the staff and Vets at Aina Haina veterinary clinic. When are most precious doggy died suddenly they not only called to express their condolences. They sent a card and everyone on the staff Wrote something in reference to our little buddy. That sealed it for me. Kindness compassion wins out every time! We trust Aina Haina Vet Clinic so much! After a bad experience at a different vet, we are so happy with the services we've received here. The clinic is clean and calm, all the staff are super nice, scheduling is a breeze, and most importantly, Dr. Kaya and Dr. Onaga have taken great care of our cat. We've seen them both and they do a great thorough job, clearly explaining what they are doing and seem to really care about the animals.

Thought Finn ate some raisins. Called Aina Haina Veterinary Clinic. Was told to bring Finn in immediately. Once I arrived, Finn was seen immediately. The care Finn got was top notch. Everyone made time, squeezed him in the already busy schedule they have, showed so much concern not only for Finn but for me also. Finn is fine. The staff and the front desk are warm, helpful and professional, the technicians are amazing, always caring and helpful, and the docs are above and beyond with the care they have provided not only to my dogs and cats but to us when we had to make hard decisions and say goodbye to one of our babies. Everyone friendly and helpful. Dr.Sakamoto very caring and understands the needs of my puppy. He helps me to understand my puppy’s needs and his follow-ups really shows how much he cares about the well-being for both my puppy and myself.

Took Ari and her 7 pups today for their first set of shots. Dr. Sakamoto and the staff’s level of care is excellent. In between their initial visit 7 weeks ago and today, I had so many questions on puppy care and called the staff/front desk frequently. They were so were so accommodating and nice. I also like the visit summary/report card Dr. Sakamoto provides after each visit. It makes follow-up care much easier.

I have had many dogs throughout my life, and have seen many veteranians over the years. I am very happy to have found Dr. Sakamoto. He was very gentle with my timid dog and took his time with her. He is very thorough in his exam and explanations and offered me treatment options. I am at ease to know that I have found a vet that is both caring and knowledgeable.

Dr. Sakamoto and team are fantastic! Needed to get my sick cat to a vet asap. The folks at Aina Haina Veterinary clinic were able to fit her in immediately. They were patient, kind, and very accommodating to Needles (my cat) as well as my wife and I. They did everything they could to help Needles feel better. Dr. Takayama has taken care of all four of our beloved children since 1997! Our family loves Dr. Takayama’s gentle manner and his patience as he answers ALL of our questions. We have taken our babies to other vets when Dr. Takayama wasn’t available, but we always return to his care. The staff is always kind to our little ones and we think this is a great reflection on Dr. Takayama!

Nice office and rooms. Clean and pleasant looking. Dr Allen has been taking good care of my 6 pets since at the Waialae Ave location in Kaimuki. Coffee in the waiting area is a nice gesture.

Dr Jon Onaga takes excellent care of our 13+ year old furry family member, keeping her strong and healthy despite her age. He is caring, knowledgeable and does thorough examinations. A good communicator, Dr Jon is easy to talk to, a good listener, and very patient answering all of our questions. He explains everything to us in a simple and easy to understand way. Don’t go anywhere else. They are truly the best. We drive from North Shore and have only had the very best experience with their services. Trustworthy and very friendly too!!

I did not have an appointment and asked to have my cat Chica seen as her symptoms were concerning. Not only did they allow a last minute visit but also made us feel welcome with a simple message written on a white board "Welcome Chica." Super happy with how warm the sentiment along with the Veterinarian assistant holding Chica and giving her a kiss on her cheek was a special touch as well. I can't say enough how comforting the experience.

What a great clinic! I needed international health certificates for my pugs that were flying to Japan with me. I was so nervous! Sakamoto sensei and other staff were so thoughtful and knowledgeable! We made it to Japan safely with no issues! They know what they are doing. I highly recommend this place.

Loved our visit! We’ve had many other vets in two different offices with our dogs from the past in Kaimuki and in kahala and this is by far has been our best experience! Our dog is not shaking when going in and waiting, it smells, feels, and looks clean, vet tech seems to love his job and is so friendly, and the vet was awesome! He is explains well and gives options. We’re so happy we tried a new vet!!

Dr. Onaga and all the staff are always friendly, kind and extremely professional. Dr. Onaga is an excellent listener and explains his findings and recommendations clearly. I think "the word" is getting around because the office was very busy today..but all patients and their owners seemed comfortable and well cared for.

Friendly and helpful staff. Dr. Sakamoto was very knowledgeable honest patient and kind. Our mix pit bull has a lot of allergy/skin problems. Dr. Sakamoto gave us a lot of alternatives and future options for treatment. We have seen another Vet for the same allergy/skin issue and wasn’t told half of what Dr. Sakamoto told us. I didn’t leave there feeling lost or wondering what to do next. I’m confident that with Dr. Sakamoto’s help and knowledge our mix pit bull will be on the road to recovery and future skin issues will be in the great care of Dr. Sakamoto!!! Excellent service from Dr. Sakamoto and the other staff!!

I was really impressed with Aina Haina Veterinary Clinic. This new location is very convenient and the staff is so professional, kind and helpful. I was very impressed with Dr. Makoto Sakamoto. He took the time to discuss my many options and all the costs involved before we proceeded with the annual visit for my dogs. He even followed up after my visit with an email detailing everything we discussed. The staff really goes out of their way to make you feel welcome here. Tracy was especially helpful during my visit. It’s definitely a veterinary clinic you might want to check out on the East Side of Oahu.

Excellent care and customer service. Dr. Sakamoto takes time to answer all questions and gives very thorough care. Tech Yosuke is also very friendly and caring towards my dog. Much better service and care compared to previous vet clinics. Definitely recommend this clinic

Dr. Onaga goes above and beyond with care for my dog. You never feel rushed and he always takes the time to go over any questions you have. It feels that he passionately cares about his patients. It’s great that there’s more than one doctor in this office, so if you have a particular question or pet has a difficult case they can easily get a second opinion or two. I’ve been to a few other vet clinics and have had mediocre experiences but not here. The cost of an exam visit is also cheaper from that I’ve had in the past. The vet tech and receptionists are always kind as well, no problem scheduling appointments over the phone. They’re not too busy so I also appreciate this as well. Dr. Takayama who is also a vet at this establishment and his father who was also a veterinarian have been taking care of our various pet shelties for over 30 years. We have trust in him and his practice.

I've taken my cat, Asher, here for 2 appointments so far with Dr. Sakamoto and have been very pleased with the level of care and support. I like the clean facility and friendly staff. I would highly them for anyone looking for a vet that gives you piece of mind.

The front staff are cheerful and kind. They are very informed and go above and beyond to make the office interaction easy.
